Bio:
A French New Yorker who grew up on a dairy farm in Normandy, Melanie once traveled by bus from New Orleans to Cancun, Mexico. After a two-month stay with indigenous peasants in Chiapas, she came to realize that magical realism is not just a literary genre; it is also a way of life. Overall, her compulsive travels proved that her mother was right when she said that often it is the very people who have little who are most willing to share. A poet and writer, Melanie studied international relations at UCLA, and literature and journalism at New York University, where she recently graduated with an interdisciplinary master?s degree.
